Volkswagen 1967, Karmann Ghia Coupe VE 34

The Franklin Mint has taken another "obscure, normal everyday car" from the 60's and created an icon of it! The 1967 VW, Karmann Ghia, released in Nov. '95 in "Velour Red" (authentic color)was the "common-man's" Porche in its day, and at a very reasonable dealer sticker price. This 1:24 diecast is very highly detailed under a magnifing glass! It has the "correct" woven black vinyl seat inserts and simulated "wood" vinyl dash-board as the 1:1 car. The seats are soft vinyl that FM has come to reproduce so well, and the rubber floor mats are there in "two-tone" as in the 1:1 car!! All "Graphics" are tampo-printed, but seem to be full of quality. Sun-Visors are present, but only "cast" into the headliner! In general the diecast is rather "ho-hum", UNTIL you open the rear engine compartment!! The great "flat-four" engine has been perfectly reproduced with all of the standard plumbing and detailed wiring from the distributor to the plugs and coil!! FM has paid much detail to even include the correct decals on the "Borsch" air-filter and battery. There is even the small "warning" decal in front of the engine pulley with its rubber fan belt!!!! This one is a "must-have" for VW collectors
