Chevrolet 1937, Suburban 3105 Light Duty Panel Truck- Ski Lodge ZD 43

Companion piece and winter variant to the Franklin Mint 1946 Chevrolet Suburban Carryall, this model has to be the accessory king of all time. You can easily spend hours sorting through the treasure trove of fun-filled scale ski apparatus. First however, the vehicle. Like the Suburban, you find working suspension and drive train, operational front windows, working cowl vent, ignition key with fob and genuine wood flooring. The metal internal tethers for the rear doors and the spare tire that drops down to be removed, is replicated here as well. The application of two-tone paint is esthetically enriched with chimerical ski-related graphics. This is a terrific little model with a plentitude of detail but the accessories carry it above and beyond the call to fun. Snap the roof rack on the panel truck and load it with a toboggan and two incredibly detailed "Rosebud" sleds. The mounted ski rack on the rear door houses two sets of skis, large and small. The rest: rope, snow shoes, two pair of ice skates, two pair of ski boots and poles, snow shovel, pick, stretcher, first aid kit, field radio with wired phone and antenna, storage box, winter hat and gloves and a thermos. Oh yeah, two huge bags of cocoa for hot chocolate. To me, the most amazing feature of the model just might be the Mt. Franklin 1946 Ski Season Vacation Guide. It is a fancifully whimsical look at the Lodge, its myths and legends, accommodations, a trail map, local history and model reference. George Bojaciuk and his design team deserve a large round of applause for this one and I volunteer to lead the chorus. The issue price is $120. (05/21/2000)
